Ragamuffinstuff Aprons
For all those messy jobs that you don't realise are messy until afterwards, at which time you discover your clothes are covered in anything from bleach, chocolate cake mix, spaghetti sauce or acrylic paints, all of which are a pain to remove especially from your best pair of jeans, your work clothes or the little dress you were going to wear that evening.
Throughout history aprons have been seen as a symbol of family, domestic goddess, cosy kitchens and apple pie. They have been used for practical as well as decorative wear, worn by tradesmen, artisans and part of traditional clothing.
After a fall from favour they are now back in vogue, simple, tough and convenient. No longer worn just by 'the housewife', but by the would be Bake Off contender, the master of the grill or the budding artist, crafter or D.I.Y handy person. What would you use yours for?
Ragamuffinstuff Aprons are a full bib apron covering the chest and extending down from the waist to mid thigh or longer. They tie with tape behind the waist and loop around the neck. Whilst they are made from new fabrics purchased locally, I can assure you all the remnants and snipped threads are put to good use. The off cuts are used to make folding coin holders, linings for bags, handmade business cards, celebration cards and then the tiny fragments cut up to make my own handmade recycled textiles.
